A cleaning apparatus, an image forming apparatus and a phase remaining body unit for preventing nick and pulling back of an elasticity cleaning member for cleaning the surface of the phase retaining body unit are provided to prolong the lifetime of the phase retaining body unit by preventing scratch and nick. An elasticity cleaning member(60) is contacted on the surface of a phase retaining body(16) maintaining an image. A cleaning apparatus(28) includes a supporting member(70) supporting a plurality of sides of the elasticity cleaning member. A first side(64A) is positioned in the rotational direction upstream of edge part(65) facing phase retaining body. A second side(64B) is positioned in the rotational direction downstream side of the edge part facing phase retaining body. The supporting member fixes the first side and the third side.
