A portable terminal, a method for informing an event in the portable terminal and a medium with a recorded program are provided to control the activation of the event informing of the portable terminal by detecting the event related to a current position. A portable terminal receives location information through a GPS(Global Position System) module(S10). A controller detects the event related to the current position(S20). The event information according to the position is stored in the portable terminal or is supplied from a specific server. If the event related to the current position does not exist, the controller check whether the event informing function is activated(S30,S70). If the event informing function is activated, the controller deactivates the event informing function(S80).
