A method for manufacturing a catalytic converter is provided to prevent rapid plastic deformation by forming the cone-shaped parts through spinning and forming the reinforced part and the catalyst mounting part through contraction and expansion. A method for manufacturing a catalytic converter comprises the steps of: preparing a cylindrical member having an initial inside diameter(S1a); forming one or more reinforced parts on the outside surface of the cylindrical member(S1); forming more than two catalyst mounting parts on the front and rear sides of the reinforced part(S2); mounting catalyst more than two catalysts individually on the catalyst mounting units of the cylindrical member(S3); and processing both ends of the cylindrical member into a cone shape by spinning(S4). The catalyst mounting part forming step includes pushing the outside surface of the cylindrical member to the inside by a plurality of jaws, inserting an expansion member partly in the cylindrical member, and moving the expansion member in the longitudinal direction of the cylindrical member so that the cylindrical member is enlarged outside.
