A tyre building drum (1) having : a central shaft (2) mounted for rotation about a longitudinal axis (3) of rotation; two lateral sections (5), each having a bead locking device (6); two central sections (7) movable radially to expand or contract; and a toroidal flexible former bladder (12) covering the central sections (7); the lateral sections (5) are mounted to slide axially with respect to the central sections (7) between a work position, in which the lateral sections (5) contact the central sections (7), and a maintenance position, in which the lateral sections (5) are detached from the central sections (7). |
