Disclosed is a method for producing a silicate blue phosphor having high luminance and chromaticity y equal to or lower than that of BAM:Eu. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a silicate blue phosphor represented by the following general formula: aAO.bEuO.(Mg1-w,Znw)O.cSiO2 .dCaCl2 (wherein A represents at least one selected from Sr, Ba and Ca, 2.970 <= a <= 3.500, 0.006 <= b <= 0.030, 1.900 <= c <= 2.100, 0 <= d <= 0.05, and 0 <= w <= 1). This method for producing a silicate blue phosphor is characterized in that a heat treatment is performed in a gas atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of from 1 x 10-15.5 atm to 1 x 10-10 atm at 1200-1400°C. |
