<PICT:0863526/III/1> A dip-painting apparatus comprises a dip-tank 10, for hot paint, having a reservoir 18 at one end thereof, into which, in operation, paint flows from the tank, and cooling means 30 in the reservoir at a level above that of the paint therein, but below the level of the paint in the tank. The cooling means, consisting of water-cooled coils 32 extending through a series of fins 34, and adjustable vertically by means of cables entrained over pulleys, condenses solvent vapours from the hot paint and promotes a flow of solvent vapours from the tank into the reservoir. The condensed solvent passes into a separating tank 59, where condensed water is removed through a pipe 62, and is returned to the paint in the reservoir through a pipe 63. The paint is returned to the tank by a pump 26, through pipes 22 and 28, and a heat-exchanger 24. Additional cooling means 16 and 64 are provided above the paint level in the tank and near the end thereof over which the paint flows. Instead of the paint flowing over an adjustable weir, 21, as shown, the bulkhead at the end of the tank may be provided with an aperture communicating with an overflow pipe extending downwardly into the reservoir. U.S.A. Specification 2,739,567 is referred to.
|
