Described are a method and a system for collecting rain water with a potabilizing filter which collects rain water and the humidity from air so as to store and use them as drinking water or as non-drinking clean water for watering gardens, for toilets or for washing cars and yards. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a system for collecting rain water with a potabilizing filter useful in places running out of potable water, the system being light and resistant so that it may be transported in the roof of any automotive vehicle as it is foldable, the system being connected to any commercial deposit or tank since it has an adjustable coupling. The collecting umbrella of the system uses the deposit as counterweight for avoiding or using the force of the wind, the umbrellas may be interconnected therebetween for generating a higher collecting area, when the umbrellas are used without containers the same are anchored to the ground with mechanical means. A filter is located a the lower portion of the collecting umbrella in order to separate objects floating in the air such as dry leaves, plastic bags or papers which may obstruct a continuous water flow. Said system includes a subsystem of filters which guarantees the quality of the drinking water.
