A method for preparing an esterified hyaluronic acid is provided to reduce the time and costs by using a short process that mixes a hyaluronic acid in an acidic condition without an organic catalyst for a couple of hours and neutralizes it. A method for preparing an esterified hyaluronic acid comprises the steps of: adding an inorganic acid to a hyaluronic acid in the solution and stirring the solution; neutralizing the solution by adding an alkaline agent; and removing the salt generated after the neutralization reaction of the acid alkali.
