A triangular foresail of a yacht is made with one set of cloths S, T having their weft or warp at right angles to the luff D<SP>1</SP> and another set of cloths U, V having their weft or warp at right angles to the leach F<SP>1</SP>. The joint line between the two cloths runs in a straight line, or a smooth curve or series of curves from the head A<SP>1</SP> to the point L on the foot, between a quarter and a half of the distance from the tack B<SP>1</SP> to the clew C<SP>1</SP>. Points on the joint line lie between a quarter and a half of the distance from the luff to the leach, measured parallel to the foot.
