This invention provides a system to determine the relative Grade or severity of cataracts in the human eye, on an objective and reproducible basis. Using the Pentacam by Oculus a 3 dimensional imaging of the anterior segment is generated. With a dilated pupil a portion of the lens can be visualized and imaged for evaluation. A unique 3 dimensional shape then can be positioned in the lens and the mean optical density of the specific volume can be calculated. Using differences in optical density a Grading of Cataract is generated.
