An image conversation apparatus or substitution image usage verifying method capable of transmitting a substitution image or real-time image is provided to confirm the substitution image of the other party in a video call and transmit a response signal corresponding to an image usage confirming request. An inputting part(110) inputs each signal corresponding to the operation of a user to a controller(195). Image data processed on a display unit(120) is outputted as visual information. A portable terminal(100) operates a communications mode for performing communication. A communications unit(130) transmits and receives various data and wireless connected mobile radio communications network. A storage(140) stores data for controlling the general operation of the portable terminal or video data inputted through the camera part(150). The analog image signal is converted into digital image signal and the camera part transmits to an image signal processor(160).
