The element (3) has an audible frequency vibration generating unit arranged on an element surface (31) that is arranged in a passenger compartment. The unit has a high-voltage generator that is electrically connected to a membrane (2) comprising a layer made of electro-active polymer. The unit has a deforming body e.g. electrically insulating polyurethane foam, to deform the membrane along a direction so that the membrane vibrates along the direction according to an audible frequency when the generator delivers an alternating current with a frequency ranging between 20 hertz to 15 kilo Hertz. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a motor vehicle element.
