The method involves moving an adjustable seat e.g. middle row rear seat, of a motor vehicle towards the rear. A backrest of the seat is pivoted around its transversal articulation axle (D) for being contacted with a seat base (3). The base of the backrest is disintegrated from movable and fixed slides (9a, 9b) when the backrest is folded against the base. The base is pivoted around a transversal articulation axle (A) that is arranged at front of the base for fixing the base against an element such as fascia or back, of the backrest of a lower row seat, that is found in front of the seat. An independent claim is also included for an adjustable seat comprising a backrest.
