摘要 A method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding an audio signal to process a death sinusoid and a general continuation sinusoid in a different way are provided to reduce the bit rate in an entire codec by allocating the small number of bits to a negative value which frequently occurs in the difference value coding of a death partial. A sinusoid analyzing unit performs the sinusoid analysis for an inputting audio signal to extract a sinusoid signal of a current frame(S100). A sinusoid tracking unit performs the sinusoid tracking for the sinusoid signals of the extracted current frame to obtain a birth sinusoid signal, a continuation sinusoid signal and a death sinusoid(S110). The quantization is performed for the sinusoid signal which is to be encoded(S120). It is judged whether or not the sinusoid signal to be encoded is a birth sinusoid signal(S130). If not, it is judged whether or not the sinusoid signal is a death sinusoid signal(S140). If the sinusoid signal to be encoded is the birth sinusoid signal, a new sinusoid coding unit performs an absolute coding for the amplitude components of the new sinusoid signal(S150). A continuation sinusoid coding unit performs the Huffman coding for the difference between the amplitude value of a continuation sinusoid signal and the amplitude value of the sinusoid signal of the previous frame(S170). If the sinusoid signal is the death sinusoid signal, a death sinusoid coding unit obtains the difference between the amplitude value of a death sinusoid signal and the amplitude value of the sinusoid signal of the previous frame and performs the Huffman coding for the difference(S160).
