PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal output device and an image signal output method capable of preventing the change of color on display in changeover of color space information of an image signal. SOLUTION: This image signal output device is provided with: a video graphic processor 12 controlling the output of an image signal; a host CPU 13 detecting a changeover time at which a first color space specification of the image signal is changed over to a second color space specification thereof and vice versa, and changing color space information of the image signal in response to changeover of the image signal from one-side color space specification to the other-side color space specification; an HDMI Tx 14 transmitting the image signal and the color space information by a predetermined digital image signal transmission specification. The host CPU 13 restricts the change of the color space information according to the other-side color space specification when the next changeover of the color space specification occurs within a predetermined period from the changeover time.
