PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproduction device for satisfactorily reproducing data by stably controlling gain of a reproduction signal of each reproduction head. SOLUTION: Preambles containing gain control patterns are provided to guard bands disposed on both sides of a unit. In reproduction, on the basis of the reproduction signals of the respective gain control patterns reproduced simultaneously from the guard band and a track by one reproduction head, a reproduction signal gain control processing part 233 obtains gain information with respect to the reproduction signal of each reproduction head to control the level of the reproduction signal. Therefore, even when the track offset occurs, gain of the reproduction signal of each reproduction head is controlled satisfactorily, thereby improving the quality of the reproduction signal obtained by separate arithmetic processing.
