<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust-gas purification device for an internal combustion engine, which prevents deterioration of fuel consumption by combusting PM more rapidly by using both of an exhaust-gas temperature rise and an HC temperature rise in DPF regeneration of a single DPF system and by properly switching between both the rising methods. <P>SOLUTION: A border line 90 is set on a plane having axes of a fresh-air amount flowing into the internal combustion engine and a PM accumulating amount in a DPF. An exhaust-gas temperature rising range 92 is set as a range to select the exhaust-gas temperature rise in which the new fresh-air amount is large and the PM accumulating amount is small. An HC temperature rising range 91 is set as a range to select the HC temperature rise in which the new fresh-sir amount is small and the PM accumulating amount is large. According to the above, the exhaust-gas temperature rise or the HC temperature rise is selected. When a catalyst is not in an active state, the exhaust-gas temperature rise is selected regardless of the ranges. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
