The airbag (1) has an airbag cover (2) enclosing an inner space (3) of the airbag that is filled with gas, and comprising two sections (20, 30) that are connected with each other. The section (30) is inverted inwards along a direction (R) of the inner space and relative to an inflated condition of the airbag such that the section (30) is arranged transverse to the direction (R) between two sides (21, 22) of the section (20). The section (30) maintains its inverted condition at the cover. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an airbag.
