Catalytically preparing aromatic or heteroaromatic aryl amine (I), comprises reacting an aliphatic amine (IX) with an aryl amine (VIII) in the presence of ruthenium-, iridium- or rhodium-compound as catalyst. Catalytically preparing aromatic or heteroaromatic aryl amine of formula (Ar1-NH-R) (I), comprises reacting an aliphatic amine of formula (R 1>) n-N-(R 2>) m(IX) with an aryl amine of formula (Ar1-NH 2) (VIII) in the presence of ruthenium-, iridium- or rhodium-compound as catalyst. Ar1 : aromatic- or heteroaromatic-residue (both optionally substituted); R, R 1>aliphatic residue; R 2>H or aliphatic residue; n : 1-3; and m : 0-2.
