<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear light source device which has a structure in which light from a light source is introduced into a transparent material and light is emitted from the transparent material, can regulate the direction of emitting the light, and thereby can emit the light in a direction perpendicular to the light-emission surface of the transparent material, and to provide an image scanner wherein a scanned image having high quality can be obtained even if an object to be image-scanned has a large thickness. <P>SOLUTION: The linear light source device includes: the transparent material having an optically-transparent reflective surface which has a light intake portion formed on one end surface and is composed of a plurality of grooved recesses longitudinally formed in parallel on its circumference surface; a light source placed to face the light intake portion; and a reflecting plate placed to face the optically-transparent reflective surface wherein the reflecting plate has a surface facing the optically-transparent reflective surface and serving as a reflective surface on which the irregularities are formed in parallel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
