PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device for maintaining satisfactorily an image light. SOLUTION: This optical device 44 is provided with a plurality of attaching members 444 for supporting a reflection type light modulator 442 and a wire grid 441, and for fixing the reflection type light modulator 442 and the wire grid 441 respectively onto respective light beam incident side end faces 4431 of a cross dichroic prism 443. Each attaching member 444 has a sealed structure in which a space among the reflection type light modulator 442, the wire grid 441 and the light beam incident side end faces 4431 is substantial sealed, and is constituted of a ceramic member.
