PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcapsule type, aluminum chelating agent-based latent curing agent by which the latency and rapid curing characteristics are improved even if the use amount of a silane coupling agent is restrained, its manufacturing method, and a thermosetting resin composition containing the latent curing agent. SOLUTION: The latent curing agent is the one in which an aluminum chelating agent and colloidal silica are held in a porous resin obtained by the interfacial polymerization of a polyfunctional isocyanate compound in the presence of a crosslinking agent. This latent curing agent is manufactured by mixing the aluminum chelating agent, colloidal silica, polyfunctional isocyanate compound and crosslinking agent into a volatile organic solvent, putting the obtained mixed solution into a water phase containing a dispersant and performing the interfacial polymerization by heating and agitating the mixture.
