A method and an apparatus for Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message processing during handover in Evolved Packet Core (EPC) are disclosed, the said method comprises the following steps. EPC receives message of UE being during handover sent by Source evolved NodeB (S-eNB), stops sending NAS message to UE temporarily, EPC receives message of UE returning to S-eNB service area sent by S-eNB, if needed, EPC sends NAS message to UE through S-eNB. With the method and apparatus, EPC can acquire location of UE in time in case of UE handover failure, and retransmission timer can set time limit precisely, and embodiment for NAS message forwarding through X2 interface is provided.
