PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior ligand for nociceptin receptor ORL-1. SOLUTION: A new compound of formula (I) (wherein R is an optionally substituted heteroaryl or (a); R1is H or a 1-6C alkyl; and R2and R3are each -CH3, -OCH3or a halogen) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, and the use of the compounds in the treatment of pain, anxiety, cough, asthma, depression and alcohol abuse, are provided.
