<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner that is compact and inexpensive, and constitutes an image forming apparatus with a variable aspect ratio of a two-dimensional image. <P>SOLUTION: One-dimensional image is obtained by optical modulation using one-dimensional optical modulator 4 where a plurality of pixels are arranged in line. The obtained one-dimensional image is scanned by an optical deflection unit 8 in the direction perpendicular to an arrangement direction of the one-dimensional optical modulator 4. A two-dimensional image is formed by the projection of a projection optical system 6 that internally includes the optical deflection unit 8. The aspect ratio of the obtained two-dimensional image is variable according to a scanning angle of the one-dimensional image in the optical deflection unit 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
