<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil wherein a coil main unit placed horizontally outside a plug hole can be made compact. <P>SOLUTION: The ignition coil 1 is provided with a coil main unit 11 that houses a primary coil 21 and a secondary coil 22 in a coil case 4 and a plug connection part 12 that is provided orthogonal to the axial direction L of the coil main unit 11 and electrically connects a high-voltage side winding end 221 in the secondary coil 22 with a spark plug. The coil main unit 11 is horizontally arranged adjacent to the opening of the plug hole. The secondary coil 22 is made by winding a secondary electric wire having an insulation film around the outer circumference of a resin secondary spool 3 in a slant winding state, and it is provided with a maximum outside diameter portion 225 with a maximum winding diameter at the intermediate position where the plug connection part 12 is provided, as well as inclined outside diameter portions 226 of which winding diameter is reduced toward both ends in the axial direction L, on both sides in the axial direction L of the maximum outside diameter portion 225. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
