<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine safely and efficiently achieving resource saving by using plasma. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine having an intake valve 4 for opening/closing a combustion chamber 22 includes: a valve drive mechanism 8 for driving the intake valve 4; and a plasma generation device comprising an antenna 7 and a microwave generation device 11 arranged in a region where the gas used for combustion in a combustion stroke exists. The plasma generation device comprising the antenna 7 and the microwave generation device 11 generates plasma at the timing uniquely corresponding to the open/close state of the intake valve 4 according to the valve drive by the valve drive mechanism 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
