<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden of meter reading by a meter reader to reduce meter reading cost, and to easily detect an erroneos numerical value of a meter reported by a consumer or to prevent occurrence of the report error. <P>SOLUTION: This meter reading system 10 comprises: a management server 8 installed in a management center 6; and a cellphone 14 with camera communicable with the management server through a communication network. The management server has: a consumer database 16 recording a customer number, a name, an address, a contact point telephone number, an electronic mail address of the cellphone of the consumer 12 concluding a contract, and a name, and a contact point or the like of the meter reader in charge; and a use amount database 18 recording the numerical value of the measuring meter of each month. The cellphone with camera transmits a photographed image of a display face of the meter to the management server by an electronic mail, and the management server character-recognizes the received image to read the numerical value of the measuring meter, and calculates the use amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
