PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic instrument capable of reducing the on duty of measuring operation upon intermittently measuring the illuminance of peripheral light and capable of actualize further power-saving. SOLUTION: The electronic instrument of this invention is constituted so as to have a photosensor 2 which outputs detecting current Iout in accordance with the illuminance of peripheral light, a current-voltage conversion circuit (resistor RL in the figure 1) which converts the detecting current Iout into a voltage signal and a control device 1 which converts the output gain of the photosensor 2 (or the conversion gain of current-voltage conversion circuit) while maintaining conduction to the photosensor 2.
