PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which lessens a load onto a motor for carriage driving and can surely cover nozzles with a cap by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: When a carriage moves towards a maintenance mechanism 51, a first frame 56 is raised to a third position before the carriage contacts with a contact part (S2). Thereafter, when the carriage contacts to the contact part in a state with the first frame 56 raised up to the third position (S3), the contact part receives a pressing force from the carriage. Receiving the pressing force, the first frame 56 is raised further from the third position (S4). When the carriage is moved to a capping position, the first frame 56 is raised to a first position (S5).
