PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of ethanol, free from fear causing food shortages and preventing occurrence of accident and environmental contamination in the production process. SOLUTION: The method for producing ethanol comprises the steps of: (A) decomposing a sap containing a cellulose or a material containing the sap by proliferating a bacterium in the sap or the material; and (B) accelerating the production of ethanol by the action of the fermentation with a yeast cell or an enzyme by using the proliferated bacterium as a nutritive component. The raw material is preferably a sap from a natural rubber. The yeast cell or the enzyme may be a koji mold cell. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
