A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display unit (10) includes a color defect correction step to correct a color defect in the event that any color defect occurs in a color filter (42) consisting of color parts (46) of a plurality of colors. The color defect correction step is characterized by including a step to identify a correction position overlapping with a projection of a color defect occurrence part X causing the color defect on at least one glass substrate (41) between a pair of glass substrates (31) and (41), a doping step to dope a metal ion (60) corresponding to the colors exhibited by the color parts (46) containing the color defect occurrence part X onto the identified correction position on the glass substrate (41), and a colored part formation step to form a colored part (61) exhibiting the colors same as the color parts (46) containing the color defect occurrence part X on the correction position by irradiating the doped metal ion (60) with laser having a pulse width of the order of femtosecond or less. |
