A reduction method of power consumption and a computer system for reducing the power consumption of a CPU even in case that a USB device which does not support a selective suspend functions mounted on the computer system are provided to reduce the power consumption of the CPU due to converting the power mode of the CPU into a low power mode. A computer system for reducing the power consumption of a CPU(Central Processing Unit) includes one or more client device(100~100n), a filter driver unit(106b) and a CPU(108). One or more client device is connected to the computer system. The selective suspend function of a client device is stopped by the filter driver unit. If the polling is stopped, the CPU of the computer system converts the normality power mode into the low power mode.
