VEHICULAR COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular communication system, easily organizing a favorable communication environment between a portable unit and an in-vehicle device.

SOLUTION: An electronic key system 1 includes: the portable unit 10 haivng a radio communication function; and the on-vehicle device 20 for controlling a vehicle 2 based on the radio communication with the portable unit 10. The in-vehicle device 20 includes a transmit circuit 13 for transmitting a radio signal having the frequency characteristic received by the portable unit to the portable unit 10 even if the transmit frequency of the transmitted radio signal and the receiving frequency of the radio signal are different. The portable unit 10 includes a receiving circuit for receiving a radio signal transmitted from the in-vehicle device 20. The receiving circuit 23 includes an adjusting circuit for adjusting the receiving frequency to the transmit frequency of the in-vehicle device 20 to receive the radio signal transmitted from the in-vehicle device 20 in a predetermined area in the periphery of the vehicle 2.
