<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance wear-resistance of a distal end part of a pinion shaft of a rack and pinion type electric power steering device by a method other than a method in which a surface carbon content is particularly made high. <P>SOLUTION: After cementation treatment or cementation nitriding treatment is applied to the whole part in an axial direction of the pinion shaft 22, high frequency hardening is only applied to a distal end part 22b in which an outer peripheral surface 22B functions as an inner ring raceway surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
