PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel displaying an image with high contrast even in a bright environment. SOLUTION: A plasma display device is equipped with: a plasma display panel that has a front plate including reflective elements reflecting visible light and a back plate disposed opposing to the front plate and that emits display light by allowing a phosphor on the back plate to emit light by discharge in a discharge space between the front plate and the back plate; and a front filter disposed to face the front plate and having a reflective element that relatively strongly reflects light in a part of the wavelength range of the visible light. The plasma display device is configured in such a manner that: the front plate includes a dielectric layer being a transmissive element transmitting the display light; the transmissive element is in a first chromatic color relatively strongly absorbing light in a part of the wavelength range of the visible light; and at least one of the reflective elements is in a second chromatic color relatively strongly reflecting light in a part of the wavelength range of the visible light, the second chromatic color being in a complementary relation with respect to the first chromatic color.
