PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission device which comprises a continuously variable transmission mechanism, and a compact construction in which forward/reverse rotation change and deceleration are attained simultaneously using a planetary gearing mechanism. SOLUTION: Since a forward/reverse switching device 20 can attain forward/reverse rotation change and deceleration simultaneously using a single pinion type single planetary gearing mechanism 50, clutches C1 and C2, and brakes B1 and B2, arrangement space can be reduced by shortening axial dimension. Therefore, even in a two-axis transmission device for vehicle in which a differential gearing mechanism 22 is arranged on an axial line of an output shaft 30, the forward/reverse switching device 20 can be compactly arranged on the axial line of the output shaft 30. Furthermore, since forward/reverse rotation change and deceleration can be attained simultaneously, a deceleration ratio can be enlarged that much, and a big deceleration ratio can be realized together using a planetary gearing type deceleration mechanism 16 arranged on an axial line of an input shaft 28.
