PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely guide steam smoke or steam from a cooking container to a range hood even when cooking while a user puts the cooking container on a desired position on the top plate. SOLUTION: The ventilation system arranged in the position spaced apart from the wall surface of a kitchen room and arranged directly on the face-to-face type kitchen table on which coil units 3 for cooking at least the cooking container 20 are arranged, has the range hood 221 opening downward, a ventilation unit 220 having exhausting opening 222 discharging air flow from the cooking container 20, air flow deflecting hoods 224 controllable so as to be freely extended and retracted from the range hood 221 in each opposing surface side, and infrared receiving elements 240 determining in which opposing surface side user stands, and controls so as to extend the air flow deflecting hood 2234 in the opposite side to the facing side in front of which the determined user stands.
