PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly inhibiting expression of CAR (Constitutive Active/Androstane Receptor). SOLUTION: The use of a car gene as a target gene for inhibiting gene expression by RNA interference is provided. The use of the car gene is related to the use thereof as the target gene for evaluating the toxicity of a compound using the level of inhibition of expression of the target gene as an indicator in a system to which the compound is administered under the inhibition of the gene expression by the RNA interference and the use etc., as the target gene for evaluating the toxicity of the compound using the level of increase in the expression of a drug-metabolizing enzyme related to the target gene as the indicator in a system to which the compound is administered under the inhibition of the gene expression by the RNA interference.
