This invention provides a hydrogen generation apparatus which does not use any high pressure hydrogen, does not require any high pressure bomb or high pressure station, does not require any electrode of an expensive material such as platinum or a platinum-plated titanium, and can realize high efficiency. The hydrogen generation apparatus is characterized in that it comprises a positive electrode package, comprising a positive electrode formed of platinum-plated titanium or stainless steel, a barrier membrane, and an electrolyte, and a negative electrode cartridge comprising a negative electrode formed of a magnesium-containing amphoteric metal and an electrolyte, and the negative electrode cartridge is detachably mounted in contact with the positive electrode package. |
