The apparatus has a flat antenna structure (8) with conductor tracks for conducting current in a direction of current flow in an area section (a). Strips (5) of a highly permeable screening material are applied to another area section (b) or a carrier (4) such that the strips are oriented with respect to one another in a preset manner, where the sections are arranged parallel to each other. The screening material has an anisotropic permeability, where an increased permeability is provided in the direction of current flow in a direction of the tracks of the former section of the structure. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing screening of a magnetic field of a radio frequency identification transponder.
