PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-equilibrium plasma discharge engine in which volumetric ignition is performed by non-equilibrium plasma discharge.

SOLUTION: This non-equilibrium plasma discharge engine 100 in which fuel is ignited by non-equilibrium plasma discharge comprises: an auxiliary combustion chamber 55 communicating with a main combustion chamber 13 into which the fuel is introduced; a first electrode 51 formed of a conductor and extending into the auxiliary combustion chamber 55; a second electrode 52 formed of a conductor and so disposed as to face the side of the extending first electrode 51; and a voltage applying means 60 for volumetrically igniting the fuel in the auxiliary combustion chamber 55 by the non-equilibrium plasma discharge between these electrodes.
