PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color converting apparatus, color converting program and color converting method, capable of performing color conversion while holding hues and gradations. SOLUTION: In a color converting apparatus, two-dimensional positions X<SB>i</SB>, Y<SB>i</SB>of input RGB data on a plane passing through three points of a white point, a black point and input RGB data (R<SB>i</SB>G<SB>i</SB>B<SB>i</SB>), in an input RGB space depending upon a target device, are specified and stored in a storage device 18. Furthermore, a profile of the target device is used to convert the input RGB data into intermediate Lab data (L<SB>m</SB>a<SB>m</SB>b<SB>m</SB>) that are points of a device independent CIELAB space. Moreover, a profile of an output device is used to convert the intermediate Lab data into intermediate RGB data (R<SB>m</SB>G<SB>m</SB>B<SB>m</SB>) that are points of a device color space depending on the output device. On the plane passing through the white point, the black point and three points of the intermediate RGB data in the device color space of the output device, positions corresponding to the two-dimensional positions X<SB>i</SB>, Y<SB>i</SB>stored in the storage device 18 are then defined as output RGB data (R<SB>o</SB>G<SB>o</SB>B<SB>o</SB>).
