PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an image for checkup which enables making the result of automatic checkup agree with the result of a functional checkup by image processing. SOLUTION: This is a method for preparing the image for checkup from an image, obtained by photographing the image of a liquid crystal panel. In the method, the photographing image of the liquid crystal panel is reduced and the end part is folded back, while the contrast is enhanced to prepare an enhanced image. For this enhanced image, an X-direction projected image is prepared, and a first difference image of the enhanced image and the X-direction projected image is determined; a Y-direction projected image is prepared with respect the first difference image; a second difference image of the first difference image and the Y-direction projected image is determined; and the second difference image is subjected to smoothing, by using a two-dimensional filter, having dimensions that are twice or smaller than as large as the width of the folded-back image so as to prepare a low-frequency image, and a third difference image of the second difference image and the low-frequency image is determined.
