<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new yeast strain capable of safely producing a large quantity of AdoMet and a method for producing the new yeast strain. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides a yeast having a mutant S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase gene introduced by a self cloning method. The mutant gene codes a protein having an amino acid sequence obtained by the substitution, deletion, insertion and/or addition of one or more amino acids in the amino acid sequence shown by the sequence No.2.
