<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which adjusts the difference of frequencies between writing video data into and reading it from a memory, and displays high-quality images with a simple structure without adding a structure to determine a reading timing based on a vertical synchronous signal in a memory reading side. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 29 determines whether or not reading operations catch up with writing operations for buffer memories BUF 1 to 4. If determining that the reading operations catch up with the writing operations, the controller 29 controls the next reading timing for the buffer memories BUF 1 to 4.
