PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize brightness and colors of images according to application. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with an imaging means 16 which has a plurality of charge storage type photoelectric conversion elements, and photographs images by an imaging optical system; a storage control means 19 which performs charge storage control of the imaging means 16; and a processing means 19, which performs a first processing and a second processing which are different from each other, based on the image photographed by the imaging means 16. The storage control means 19 performs charge storage control which does not make the output of the photoelectric conversion elements saturate, when the imaging means 16 photographs images for performing the first processings in the processing means 19, and performs charge storage control which permits saturation of the out of the photoelectric elements, when the imaging means 16 is to photograph images for performing the second processing in the processing means 19.
