In the take-out of an article stored in refrigerator (2) from the refrigerator (2), the article is held up before use-by date managing apparatus (1). When the article is past the use-by date, the apparatus (1) immediately notifies the user by buzzing sound therefrom that it is not consumable. The apparatus (1) comprises means for reading in pairs the merchandise information on an inbound article and the information on the use-by date thereof; means for, at the outbound operation for the article, reading the merchandise information on the article, reading out the corresponding use-by date and judging the anteroposterior relationship with the date of the day; and means for, if expired, raising an alarm. |
