PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control and suppress vibration of a vehicle body to approach the target vibration condition of the vehicle body more and more by taking even vibration mode in a vibration condition of the vehicle body into account. SOLUTION: In this method for controlling and suppressing behavior of a vehicle, damping force of a damper of each wheel provided among each wheel and the vehicle body is controlled to the target damping force required for bringing a vibration condition of the vehicle body to the target vibration condition to suppress change of behavior of the vehicle. If there is a wheel having the direction of damping force generated by the damper and the corresponding direction of the target damping force which are the opposite directions, the target damping force of the damper of each wheel is corrected based on the rank of priority of a plurality of vibration modes constituting vibration conditions of the vehicle body and the direction of damping force generated by the damper of each wheel.
