PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film which maintains the profiles of practical use without losing heat resistance, aroma retention nature, water resistance and the like which are outstanding characteristics, has good twist retention and bending nature and enables twist wrapping, bending packaging or secured bending. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film is a polyester laminated film comprising a polyester resin layer (B) which overlies at least one surface of a polyester resin layer (A), wherein the refractive index Nx in a longitudinal direction is Nx≤1.577, the refractive index Nz in a thickness direction of the film is 1.490≤Nz≤1.550, the thermal shrinkage rate of the film is 5.0% or less, and the twist retention angle of the film is 230°or less.
